Rules and Agreements

Membership Requirements:

  1. Chapter Membership: Only one (1) Independent Synergy Member (ISM) representing a professional designation is allowed in each chapter.
  2. Absences: One (1) absence is allowed per month. Six (6) absences are allowed within a six month time frame. The seventh absence will lead to an automatic termination from the chapter. An appeal for reinstatement can be made to the Membership Committee and Leadership Group if the last absence occurred due to only the following reasons: a. Personal medical emergency with doctor’s note. b. Immediate Family medical emergency with doctor’s note. c. Bereavement absence with death certificate. (If an ISM is terminated from a chapter, the member may seek to join another chapter with written approval from a Synergy Director. Termination from a chapter does not mean that a member is terminated from the Synergy Marketing Firm.)
  3. Tardiness: Arriving 20 minutes late shall constitute as an Absence.
  4. Time Frame: The time frame for all ISMs, regardless of when they joined the chapter, shall be from January 1st to June 30th and July 1st to December 31st.
  5. Substitution: The use of a substitute is highly recommended. In the event that an ISM will need to be absent from a meeting, a substitute may come in a member’s place to represent that ISM and an absence will not be counted against the ISM.

Leadership Group:

  1. The Leadership Group is comprised of three positions: President, Vice President, and Secretary. The Secretary will also take on the tasks and responsibilities of the Treasurer. 
  2. The responsibilities of the Leadership Group are to manage and facilitate the chapter meetings and its members. 
  3. An additional responsibility of the leadership group is to collect and deposit all monies received from new member signups. 
  4. Leadership group positions are for 12 months from date of chapter inception. 
  5. The first leadership group in a chapter is appointed by the Synergy Director when the chapter is formed. On the first week of the 11th month of inception, a written ballot vote shall be taken by the ISMs to choose a new leadership group. An ISM cannot hold the same position for consecutive years. An exemption is possible if a position became vacant and the person was appointed to fill the vacant position for a partial year. In this situation, an ISM may serve slightly more than one term in the same position.

Membership Committee:

  1. The Membership Committee shall admit new ISMs or dismiss ISMs per the Personal Success Contract (PSC) and the Synergy Marketing Firm’s Rules and Agreements. 
  2. Additionally, the Membership Committee shall process the application, review the candidate for membership inclusion, call references, and interview the candidate.

Referral Slips:

  1. The referral slip is a method of passing referrals from one ISM to another. 
  2. There are three copies. The first copy will go to the person receiving the referral. The second copy will go to the chapter record box. The third copy will remain with the individual who provided the referral.

Meeting Facility:

The meeting facility can be any place which can accommodate the attending ISMs and their guests. When a new chapter is formed, the Synergy Director and the founding members will determine the best meeting space at that time. A new meeting facility can be proposed at any time to better accommodate the chapter with consensus from the chapter members.

Meeting Structure:

  1. Meetings will promptly begin at the scheduled time. 
  2. Members are requested to arrive 15 minutes prior to each scheduled meeting. 
  3. Members will network within the 15 minute period and have 30 business cards on hand. 
  4. Meetings shall be held for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.;
  5. Meetings shall be called to order by Leadership Group.;
  6. Welcome and Introduction remarks will be made by leadership members
  7. 60 Second Infomercial:
    1. Each participant will have one minute to educate other members and guests about her/his business.
    2. The infomercial shall be provide the following:
      1. Personal Name
      2. Business Name
      3. Description of product or service
      4. Paint memorable picture, story, or example of service/product
      5. Close with: "A Good Referral for me is..."
  8. A Synergy Marketing Strategy presentation will then follow. 
  9. Passing of Referrals. Members and guests will pass referrals to each other. 
  10. The Synergy Meeting will conclude with networking time where members can set up appointments with each other to better understand each other’s business.
